Blazing Fast WipEout 2048 Footage

February 3, 2012 in Articles

WipEout 2048 is shaping up to be a must-have launch title for Vita. We’ve seen footage of it in the past, but the majority was from early slow-speed levels. The real fun happens when you advance to a higher speed class, but there was fear if Vita could handle it. Luckily, we now have confirmation it can still perform at these blistering levels. Check out the above video of the Subway level from an A+ challenge.

Perhaps the most shocking thing of all is that the game can currently be had for $29.99 on Amazon.

Preview: Binary Domain

February 2, 2012 in Previews

Whether from robots, aliens or zombies, humanity seems to be doomed. The zombie scene has practically taken over the entertainment industry, generating billions of dollars around the world, but where is the love for the cybernetic enslavement or extermination of mankind? Enter Binary Domain, a game brought to you by Sega’s Yakuza Team (who ironically is doing a zombie spin-off title for Yakuza), where the world is chaos after a crazed man reveals himself to be a robot. Japanese company Amada has advanced artificial intelligence to a new age by breaking a clause in the Geneva code. They’ve created and infected the world with artificial life forms (aka robot beings) disguised as humans. Flesh and blood, steel and solder. Put together your international superstar solider line-up and prepare yourself for an illustrative epic.

Why do developers hate friendship?

February 2, 2012 in Articles

Science really needs to figure out why girls always win.

Remember the days when multiplayer meant sitting awkwardly close to your friend (or pleasantly close to your girlfriend, or to a girl that you wanted to be your girlfriend, or just to a girl in general) while you each controlled a segment of the television screen? Remember being able to hear shouts and laughter in real time? Remember accidentally knocking over your soda, but being too engrossed in a close battle that you don’t care to Pause?

Or, in later years, when “multiplayer” meant you could play in the same room with people you know or play the same modes in an online room with people you may or may not know?

Those were the days. But why not now?

The Humble Bundle: Now for Android

January 31, 2012 in Articles

The Humble Bundle is a great concept that is beneficial for all parties involved. Basically, Humble Bundle offers up a handful of games that you can pay what you want for. A nice twist on the concept is that some of the money goes to charity, letting you divvy up how much of your contribution goes to developers, charity or Humble Bundle itself.

The Simpsons Arcade Game Coming to PSN

January 31, 2012 in Articles

One of the great joys for us old ’90s gamers was playing Konami’s fantastic beat-em-ups. Nothing beat the atmosphere of people vying for one of the four control sticks to be a part of the group that beats the game. X-Men and TMNT were great, but The Simpsons Arcade Game has long held a special spot in many an arcade fan’s heart.

The Kingdom of Amalur DLC Foofaraw

January 30, 2012 in Articles

Kingdoms of Amalur has had a rough weekend.  With the game’s launch coming up next Tuesday, a well-received demo getting a good amount of play, and a lot of good advance press, Amalur was hitting all the points that warm the twisty little hearts of a PR strategist.  Then it was announced that there was a card with a code included with the game that got the “House of Valor” content, comprising seven quests not available otherwise.  Buy Amalur new and you get the content free, buy used and it’s available for sale.  This was seen by many as yet another step on the road to screw the used game buyer.
