Learning The Basics of Persona 4 Arena!

Posted by Adam Beck on 01 May 2012

Persona 4 is arguably the best RPG released on the Playstation 2, so why not take those fantastic characters and put them up against each other in an all out war. Atlus has teamed up with Arc Systems Works, best known for their BlazBlue and Guilty Gear franchises, to create a 2D fighter set in the Persona universe. It was only recently that Atlus announced they will be localizing Arena in North America and the most hardcore of fans jumped for joy. This over the top fighter will be released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America and Japan this August, but in the mean time, lets learn how the fighting system works.

Persona 4 Arena works similarly to most 2D fighters offering easy movements and attacks but comes with some interesting techniques. In all Persona titles, each character comes with their own Persona that will jump in to help you out. This applies here as you can summon them to perform an attack similar to what a tag-team partner would be able to accomplish, but you will have to be wary of when to use them as your Persona can’t take too many shots. You are also able to counter attack during your opponent’s combo and use a Burst skill that will repel their attack. These are only the basics of what you can expect to play in Persona 4 Arena when it hits store shelves at the end of summer. Expect more coverage as it is presented to us.
