Devil May Cry’s New Face

Posted by Khris Golder on 15 May 2012

The next Devil May Cry isn’t a prequel, a sequel, or an in-between-quel. Out of the shadow (and style) of Resident Evil, Capcom is teaming up with Ninja Theory to give us a whole new Dante.

In an interview with Ninja Theory’s Dom Matthews on the official website, Matthews describes the title, “You can compare what DmC is in contrast to the previous 4 games with what Christopher Nolan’s Batman is in contrast to Adam West’s Batman from the 60’s.”

If the first Devil May Cry is a 60’s version of Batman compared to this new title, then whatever Capcom/Ninja Theory is planning must be insane. Capcom elaborated in their press release. “DmC will depict a duplicitous world where…the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost.” There have even been reports that they brought in the most advanced Devil May Cry players to improve combat combinations and mechanics.

So where does that leave actual gameplay? Capcom described this new title by stating “DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalized gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment.”

After getting to experience the original trilogy in HD, DmC looks like it’s on the fast track to one hell of a stylish reboot.

You know, I’m excited for it. I thought Enslaved was fantastic and this seems to channel that a bit.

Looks like a mix of the original DMC’s style with Twilight.
