E3 2012: Ni no Kuni

Posted by Jake on 07 Jun 2012

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is the first stab at video games by the legendary Studio Ghibli. You may be familiar with their highly popular anime titles: Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle, to name a few. Their storyboard experience and art style have translated beautifully into a fantastic looking game. The goal was to create a game with the look and feeling of playing through an actual Japanese anime, and Ni no Kuni appears to deliver masterfully.

Players control Oliver on his travels to a parallel world in a quest to save his mother. As he learns to become a magician, Oliver gains access to several spells to aide him in his battles throughout the adventure.

Ni No Kuni has already been released in Japan to great acclaim, but Stateside players can experience Ghibli’s latest story in January 2013.
