Star Wars: The Old Republic Is Now (Somewhat) F2P

Posted by Steve Hannley on 10 Jul 2012

Old Republic seems to be suffering setback after setback. In an effort to drum up players, the Star Wars MMO has become free-to-play — albeit — temporarily. Instead of axing the subscription and offering micro-transactions, a notion below the status of the game, gamers can play free up until level 15. At that point, you will be able to keep playing, but not level-up without a paid subscription.

Requiring no payment method, the offer extends only to new Old Republic accounts. Players who have participated in previous free trials can again take part in this one. Head over here to sign up for the trial.

Hopefully this gives the MMO the boost it needs, as it’s sad to see something so ambitious struggle.

One day I plan to expose my child to no American history besides what they can pick up from playing Assassin's Creed III. Then I'm going to drop him or her into a Social Studies class and mildly enjoy the outcome. I'm going to be a great father.
