Bioware may have received a lot of flack when they converted their beloved old-school RPG into a more mainstream title, but hopefully they can rectify the situation with their third installment: Inquisition. Bioware and EA Games have announced today that Dragon Age III is indeed in development and no longer running on the Eclipse engine. Instead, the team working on the project will be using DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine to create the most memorable and beautifully crafted game possible. Being that Command & Conquer: Generals 2 is also being developed through the tool set, don’t be surprised if we see all future Bioware titles taking advantage of the engine.
“The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now,” said Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. “We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans. They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”
Dragon Age III: Inquisitor is scheduled for a late 2013 launch on undetermined platforms, although we can assume that it will appear on the PC platform at the very least.
