The Walking Dead Collector’s Edition Includes Enormous Omnibus

Posted by Steve Hannley on 22 Oct 2012

Let’s be honest: there’s no good reason to buy a retail version of Telltale’s The Walking Dead. Those interested in the game could have already purchased it on XBLA, PC or PSN for $24.99. Unless you didn’t have an internet collection or would prefer paying $5 more for a delayed physical product, reasons for adoption are slim.

GameStop has smartly realized that, so are offering an Exclusive Collector’s Edition. In addition to PS3 or 360 retail version of the game (with exclusive cover art), purchasers will receive a 1,000+ page Omnibus collecting the first 48 issues of the comic book. At a whopping $69.99, it more renders the game more a bonus than the book.

For those who don’t want to buy the game again, the good news is that the same Omnibus was released three years ago and can currently be had for $34.36 on Amazon. While it won’t include a nice big box or the new cover art, the pages remain the same.

If you’d prefer the complete package when released December 4th, head over here to pre-order the 360 version and here for PS3.

One day I plan to expose my child to no American history besides what they can pick up from playing Assassin's Creed III. Then I'm going to drop him or her into a Social Studies class and mildly enjoy the outcome. I'm going to be a great father.
