Journey’s Composer Gets Nominated For a Grammy

Video games continue to get more recognition among the entertainment world as Austin Wintory’s original score for Thatgamecompany’s smash downloadable hit, Journey has been nominated for a Grammy. Wintory will be up against Han Zimmer’s The Dark Knight Rises score, Trent Renzor & Atticus Ross’ soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Ludovic Bource’s work on The Artist, John William’s tracks for The Adventure of Tintin, and Howard Shore’s Hugo.

Journey came out back in March and was a critical success among players and critics, so while this isn’t the first time a video game soundtrack has been nominated for a Grammy, it certainly is one of the more deserving. Winners will be announced when the Grammys take place on February 10th, 2013.
