If you were looking forward to indulging in the open beta of Ragnarok Online 2 this week, and you live any place outside of South East Asia, well then you can just let those hopes and dreams die a fiery death because it’s not going to happen. One week after the game’s original beta launch was delayed, and just twenty four hours before the game goes live, publisher Asiasoft Online took to Facebook this morning to deliver some bad news. In their post, they stated their licensing agreement with developer Gravity Co. does not allow them to extend Ragnarok’s services outside of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand or Vietnam. This means if you do not live within one of those regions, you can’t play the game.

To offer some kind of solace, they followed it up by saying RO2 will be available in North America and the Philippines sometime in the first half of 2013. Judging from fans’ comments on Facebook though, that’s hardly enough to quell their rage.

With all that being said, this may be one of the most botched game launches in recent memory. Take note publishers and developers: this is how not to do things.
