No Halo 4 at MLG This Year

Posted by Steve Hannley on 18 Jan 2013

Competitive Halo players that were hoping to play Halo 4 for the first time at MLG this year are out of luck, as league co-founder and CEO Sundance DiGiovanni is reporting the company has signed its console shooter deal for 2013 and Halo isn’t in it.

He followed up the announcement with tweets like “I have loved almost every minute of our time with Halo and wish the competitive Halo community the best.” and “It was a good run”, cementing the game’s persona non gratis status.

The announcement is surprising, as while Halo 4 didn’t prove to be the best-selling entry into the series, it still moved millions of units. If this a foreshadowing of Halo’s waning popularity or if the game simply wasn’t a fit for the league is unclear, but regardless, Halo players will have to compete elsewhere moving forward.

One day I plan to expose my child to no American history besides what they can pick up from playing Assassin's Creed III. Then I'm going to drop him or her into a Social Studies class and mildly enjoy the outcome. I'm going to be a great father.
