It seems that Nintendo just isn’t meant to have a moment of serenity, or a chance to revel in their successes. Hot off the heels of E3, January Edition the latest Nintendo Direct comes some news that will be sure to disappointment Big N fans around the globe. In their most recent financial analysis report, Nintendo expected to sell 5.5 millions Wii U consoles from November 2012 to March 2013, and 17.5 Nintendo 3DS systems between April 2012 and March 2013. Unfortunately, the numbers thus far suggest that’s not going to happen. Consequently, the forecast has been revised.

As of now, Nintendo is forecasting to sell 4 million Wii U consoles by March 31, 2013 and 15 million 3DS systems by the same time. For those keeping track, this is actually the second time Nintendo has adjusted their forecasts for their beloved 3DS. As it stands now, the Wii U has sold 3.06 million units thus far, while the 3DS has pulled in 12.71 units. It would seem the revised predictions will likely be met, now.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Nintendo, though, as their profit forecasts have actually increased for the ongoing financial year. It should prove interesting to see what happens with the Big N going forward, what with the recent merging of their home and handheld console divisions, as well as the strong, newly announced Wii U lineup.
