Virtual-On and Virtua Striker Not Striking Outside Japan

Posted by Bradly on 30 Jan 2013

For those excited about the idea of playing the original Virtual-On or Virtua Striker on XBLA or PSN, just go ahead and forget all about that, as Sega announced today that they have no plans to release the two upcoming arcade games outside of Japan. This decision seems a bit odd, as it comes just months after the worldwide release of the AM2 classics, Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers. Even stranger is the fact that Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram was brought to XBLA back in 2009 with no apparent hiccups, so why not release the original internationally?

Nevertheless, even if these two gems won’t officially see the light of day outside Japan, they can be purchased and downloaded by simply signing up for a Japanese PlayStation Network account. Both games will launch on February 13, for about nine bucks. Interested parties should peep the gallery below for some screenshots.
