This week we take a good long look at the exploration system implemented into the world of Tomb Raider. The most curious new feature is the fast travel system that’s generally associated with open world games, allowing you to revisit past areas. With it, Lara can grind XP if needed, locate secrets that may have been hidden during her first go around, and collect more salvage. Additionally, the use of both the bow and rope allows Lara to use the environment to her advantage. This includes grappling onto specific structures to climb across or pulling them down atop enemies.

Tomb Raider seems absolutely massive and having recently finished Far Cry 3, it seems very familiar, just with a more solid narrative. The new Lara Croft is shaping up to be the perfect reboot with so many modern and advanced systems being thrown in. Tomb Raider can’t come fast enough as it’ll be out March 5 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
