Capcom Arcade Cabinet U.S. Release Detailed

Posted by Steve Hannley on 07 Feb 2013

Early this morning, we posted the first trailer to Capcom Arcade Cabinet, a XBLA and PSN title that compiles many of Capcom’s classic arcade titles in a single platform. We had a feeling it would be coming stateside, but didn’t think it’d be happening nearly simultaneously with the Japanese release. Starting on February 19th, nostalgic fans will be able to download these classic arcade games at a reasonable price. Simply buying one game will grant access to the platform, which provides DIP switch functionality (allowing to change difficulty levels and other features), a music player and the ability to capture and share screenshots (XBL and PSN via Facebook) and video (PSN via YouTube). Games will also have a training mode, Japanese or international versions selectable, global leaderboards and some titles will have online support for two players.

The first game pack launches on February 19th on PSN and a day later on XBLA and includes Black Tiger, Avengers and 1943: The Battle of Midway. These must be purchased together in a pack for the introductory price of $4.99, or the latter two separately on March 5th only on PSN for $3.99 each. Later releases follow a similar schedule with the pack of three games being first available for $9.99 and the rest separately two weeks later for $3.99 a pop. Additionally, buying all Game Packs or the All in One back on May 21st for $29.99 will grant two yet unannounced bonus titles for free.

One day I plan to expose my child to no American history besides what they can pick up from playing Assassin's Creed III. Then I'm going to drop him or her into a Social Studies class and mildly enjoy the outcome. I'm going to be a great father.
