Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive

Posted by Adam Beck on 07 Feb 2013

By far one the best Wii U games coming out of E3 last year was Ubisoft Montpellier’s Rayman Legends. It had such vibrant and beautiful art style mixed in with platforming we’ve come to appreciate. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has backed out of being a Nintendo console exclusive, allowing our limbless hero to be released this September for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii U.

“We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system”, says Geoffroy Sardin, EMEA Chief Marketing & Sales Officer. ”We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”

This isn’t totally unexpected as Ubisoft didn’t rule out other consoles, although they were being rather quiet about it, but Rayman Legends was one, if not the most anticipated Wii U exclusive up until recently. Now hopefully everyone will do Ubisoft a favor and support the series so Rayman won’t be laid to rest.

And another one gone, another one gone. Another on bites the dust. Very stupid decision by Ubisoft to delay it that far away when it was supposed to come out in just a month for Wii U.

I played the demo on the wii-u and it’s very fun. It makes sense for it to be multi-platform though if what you are asserting about Raymans demise is true. Maybe the wii-u “exclusivity” was to drum up interest. What better way to get Sony/Microsoft owners talking than to release a Nintendo “exclusive”? ;)
