“Man” Buys 40 Copies of Hyrule Historia Limited Collector’s Edition to Sell on Craigslist

Released just weeks ago, The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia was a special edition hardcover book from Dark Horse and Nintendo containing a wealth of information from the Zelda games, including never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games, and more. It instantly attracted the attention of fans of the series, who pre-ordered it in swarms. To commemorate the release, a Limited Collector’s Edition was released which included the book in a handsome embossed faux-leather binding with gold pages. Many who purchased opted for this edition, but much like Ni No Kuni fans, were crushed to find their pre-order cancelled just days before release.

Now, many of these editions have been popping up on reseller sites, fetching as much as $200 on eBay. One such scalper reseller has taken the notion to the extreme and is selling forty copies of the book on Craigslist. Although he didn’t list a price outright, he states “Prices will vary with eBay’s and amazon current value as of around $160-200+. ” With only 4,000 printed, that represents 1% of total books in existence. He even has the nerve at the end to write “It’s sold out in all stores in less than a day and many have received cancellations from ordering too late.”

Yeah, wonder why?

Man? Should be Jerk. This is why preorders should only allow a limited quantity (say, 3? Just to pick a reasonable number).
