It was somewhat surprising that Sega picked up Relic Entertainment considering they already own an RTS developer in The Creative Assembly, but we were just grateful that they found a home. With the acquisition of the company, their upcoming sequel, Company of Heroes 2, came with the package, but this put a question on its potential release. Worry no longer as Sega has made the announcement today that the PC exclusive Company of Heroes 2 will be hitting retail and digital storefronts on June 25, 2013 in both North America and Europe.
“We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel they deserve,” commented Greg Wilson, Producer of Company of Heroes 2. “However, the wait won`t be long as players will soon be able to help us test and balance multiplayer in the upcoming Closed Beta. Details will follow shortly.”
The game was originally pegged for early 2013, but with all the drama that occurred with THQ, they no doubt had a little more time to work on the project. Be prepared to bunker down and fight in one of Soviet Union’s most deathly times.
