When Nintendo announced a 3DS port of Donkey Kong Country, many wondered if original developer Retro Studios would be working on the conversion or if Nintendo would bring in an outside developer for the duties. According to a listing on Australian Classification (the country’s ratings board), however, we may now have our answer. It looks like Minnesota-based Monster Games has taken over development duties, which would be their second 3DS entry after Pilotwings Resort.
Monster seems like a sensible developer for the port, as the company has developed the Excite Truck/Bike/Bot games on the Wii and likely have considerable knowledge about the 3DS due to their development of one of its most touted launch titles.
The good news is that this frees up Retro to work on another project — Metroid Prime 4, anybody?
