EA To Give SimCity Owners a Free Game

Posted by Steve Hannley on 08 Mar 2013

The bad news for SimCity, according to Maxis Label General Manager, Lucy Bradshaw, is that “people are still experiencing response and stability problems that we’re working fast to address.” The good news is that “SimCity is a solid hit in all major markets”. So, hooray! If that wasn’t enough to get you back in the good graces of EA, the company will be offering those who’ve activated SimCity a free game from their portfolio on March 18. So, hooray again!

Later in the PR piece with enough spin to be a Spin Doctors mix, Bradshaw claims that “The consensus among critics and players is that this is fundamentally a great game. ” Nope, even if the game had no server issues, it still has serious flaws.

“SimCity is a GREAT game and the people who made it are incredibly proud”, she closes the article. You know when the head of a company describes their own game as “great” and capitalizes it that it must be.

So to recap: SimCity IS a great game after all and you’ll be receiving a mystery game for all the trouble of not being able to play a $60 game you purchased.

One day I plan to expose my child to no American history besides what they can pick up from playing Assassin's Creed III. Then I'm going to drop him or her into a Social Studies class and mildly enjoy the outcome. I'm going to be a great father.
