Mortal Kombat Finally Headed to PC

Considering the reboot of the popular fighting game franchise launched a couple years ago, it’s a little bit of a surprise to learn that it’s still getting additional releases. Warner Bros. Interactive has announced today that 2011’s Mortal Kombat will be heading to Steam and PC retail this summer. It’s almost fitting considering it was only the first three games that ever graced the PC platform in the past, but hopefully there’s no ill will with their fans over the neglect.

NetherRealm Studios won’t be handling the PC port, which might be good considering their lack of experience with the system, so High Voltage Software, best know for The Conduit and converting Zone of Enders to HD, has stepped up to take charge of development. The game will support achievements, gamepad support (of course), leaderboard statistics, and will include every single piece of DLC that was released on its console counterparts. Mortal Kombat will be available digitally on July 3 with a physical release scheduled for August 2.
