It’s been suggested by Sony executives that the PlayStation 4 will be the company’s biggest console launch to date, and with well over a million units already pre-ordered, it’s looking very likely. With most retailers sold out of the console months before its release, Sony claims to have strategically held back units so that the PlayStation 4 will be available on day one for walk-in buyers and throughout the holiday season.
Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton said to Fox Business, “We want to make sure people can buy a PS4 on November 15 and through the holidays — we’re holding back some inventory to make sure people will be able to buy one.” Those of you without a pre-order should still expect to spend an entire morning in line. More available units doesn’t solve the crazy day-one buyer epidemic likely to claim every game and electronic boutique across the nation.
Hopefully this time around we won’t see PlayStation’s pop up on eBay for double the price.
