If there’s one thing Naughty Dog has proven this past generation it’s that they are among the industry’s best at writing realistic and believable dialogue, and they were once again at the top of their craft in The Last of Us. The actual plot of The Last of Us isn’t particularly original, but the fantastic writing makes it feel like nothing before it. The strength of the game lies in its two lead characters and the journey they go on throughout the course of the game. Joel and Ellie feel like real people, and their interactions have you almost believing they are real. At a time when even the best written video games still manage to have their share of eye rolling lines or characters behaving unnaturally, The Last of Us stands apart, and is one of the most superbly written games in the history of the medium.
