Move aside Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall, FIFA 14, Titanfall and inFamous: Second Son. All of these games sold considerably well on the PS4 and Xbox One, but one title had them all beat. Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently the best-selling game on both consoles.
The news came courtesy of Activision’s earnings report. The report covers both North America and Europe. The success of Call of Duty: Ghosts isn’t all that surprising. The Call of Duty franchise has consistently outsold its competition on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, so it makes sense that Call of Duty: Ghosts will continue that tradition on PS4 and Xbox One. What we don’t know is how many units of each version were sold.
Call of Duty: Ghosts wasn’t the only huge success for Activision. Skylanders: SWAP Force found similar success. It was the third best-selling franchise in both North America and Europe.
Activision is looking to repeat this success in 2014 with new entries in both franchises. Sledgehammer Games will debut Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Skylanders: Trap Team is out October 5.
