The E3 after a new console generation is revealed is always an interesting show. Naturally, it’s a bit of a comedown, as next-gen announcement shows are the biggest. The post-E3, however, is crucial as it’s the first showing of many of those new console’s games. Last year was mainly devoted to launch titles and games far off, while this year was devoted to more thought-out titles as well as hands-on of games that last year seemed long out of reach.
2014 saw the return of many juggernauts still yet to see a release such as Destiny, The Division, The Order: 1886, Sunset Overdrive and more. It was a show dominated by a handful of large-scale, big-publisher AAA titles, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t room for indies. More still, the Oculus Rift had one of its most realized showings yet. Alas, we saw all of it (almost literally) and now that we’re free of the onslaught, we’ve decided on the best and brightest to grace the floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center, as well as the adjacent parking lot, and awarded them accordingly.
We’ve organized everything into handy categories, but recommend you start from the top and work your way through via links at the bottom of each individual award.
