New Menus Discovered in Original Mortal Kombat Games

Video game fans are always looking for secrets in their favorite video games and sometimes they’re found decades after the game was released like when the Nero Brothers side quest was discovered back in 2013. Today, a fan has discovered a secret in the arcade versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Mortal Kombat 3. Through a series of inputs, a player has discovered a hidden menu coded by NetherRealm’s Ed Boon. These “EJB” menus allow the user to input initials directly into the leaderboard, run debug and diagnostic tests on the game cabinet, and there’s an option for something called coin bookkeeping.

The MK3 menu adds a bit more allowing the player to immediately unlock the hidden characters of the game and to watch demonstrations of all the fatalities which is usually unlocked when a player has beaten the game on Master difficulty. It’s amazing when people are still discovering secrets in this game over twenty years later. You can watch the video of the player who discovered it below along with instructions on how to access these menus.
