Much has been made regarding the disastrous run up to the release of Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9. Delays have been abundant and side projects have been launched, all while gamers wait for the Mega Man mastermind to produce what he initially announced at that PAX panel all of those years ago. Deep Silver and Comcept seems serious about actually launching the game on June 21, so we know that the wait is close to over.
In an attempt to build up the anticipation that has cooled over this long period, a new “Masterclass” trailer for the title has been released. It seems that there is some real effort put in to appeal to… someone. Frankly, it’s baffling. “Absorb power-ups,” the trailer exclaims. Wow! Does it also use a controller, or is the input done solely through forced enthusiasm? Mr. Voiceover Announcer Person, were you wearing a Big Johnson t-shirt when you recorded this?
To me, trailers are nothing more than vehicles to show off what a game has. It has to be particularly obnoxious to garner my disdain. Congratulations, Deep Silver. This one pulled it off. Now, I love you guys; you are handling so many great games, possibly including this one, but come on. Seriously, look at it. Just look at it.
