Casual Corner: Splashy Dots

We know how it is. You worked hard for your 10:1 KDR, but sometimes, you just want to take five, relax and enjoy a quick game on your phone. Unfortunately, finding good games is anything but quick – most mobile gems end up buried under a mountain of trash. But like we said, we know how it is, so every month we shine a spotlight on a great diversion to get you through the work week.

This month the Casual Corner is shining a spotlight on Splashy Dots by Crimson Pine Games. If you’re a fan of puzzlers and racking your brain for a bit, then this will be right up your alley. Splashy Dots is a simple puzzler where you move from the starting location to the end by going through multi-colored dots. Your only limitations are that you must go through every dot; you can only go through each once and you can’t make any diagonals. Sounds simple enough right?

It’s simple for the easy levels, but as you progress, you get into levels that litter the screen with dots. In order to get past these levels, it’ll take you some time to look through everything, plan your route and then eventually erase it all to start again. Once you get that pattern down you should remember it, because the game likes to throw some similar ones in there.

What makes Splashy Dots a fun a game is that you get to listen to some great smooth jazz while you’re sitting there wondering where your next move should be. Simple tunes that you would try to study with. Visually every dot has its own color and when you slide from one to another you’ll leave that color there to mark your path. In the end, you have this great looking piece all to the tunes of jazz. If you’re playing this and just hanging out it feels super chill.

Those interested can download Splashy Dots here on iOS. As of right now, Splashy Dots isn’t on Android, but Crimson Pine has other games on the platform.
