During the latest Nintendo Direct, Pokémon fans were treated to a pretty good amount of information for the upcoming Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games. While we’ve received sporadic updates on the games in recent posts, the trailers below gives us details on storyline, new features and Ultra Beasts! Find out what’s next for the Alola region.
First up is the much more in-depth role for Necrozma. It is seen grabbing Solgaleo or Lunala and draining their light to somehow takes over their bodies. The new forms are called Dusk Mane Necrozma and Dawn Wings Necrozma, respectively, which allows Necrozma to use the duo’s signature attacks. It is all part of a new storyline while still keeping us familiar with the legendary Pokémon of the first titles.
Discover new and interesting locations not found in the previous games. Have fun interacting with Pikachu in the Valley of Pikachu or walk along beaches filled with surfers. One new Ride Pokémon service offered is Mantine; we are currently unsure what it will be able to do. However, since it is a Flying/Water-type it’ll definitely be fun. Starter Pokémon will be obtainable in a different manner compared to the first where Hala would offer one to you. Finally, the mysteries of Rockruff and Lycanroc deepen. The Dusk Form Lycanroc is only found in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. It, along with the other Lycanroc, will be able to perform its own Z-Move called Splintered Stormshards which inflicts heavy damage and gets rid of battlefield terrains. Players with Ultra Sun can receive a Rockruff with Fire Fang while Ultra Moon has one that learned Thunder Fang. Celebi will also be given away free for all four Sun and Moon games if you’ve purchased the Pokémon Gold and Silver versions from the Virtual Console. It’s not the only way to obtain this mythical Pokémon but it is pretty simple for anyone already getting the retro titles.
Monstrous foes have returned from parts unknown. The threat of new Ultra Beasts is looming! A large, brick wall-like Pokémon called UB-Assembly looks like it is going to have pretty incredible defense. It’s an odd one as there are a few legs and multiple eyes poking out from behind stones. Assembly is exclusively found in Ultra Moon. UB-Burst is a rather eccentric and funny one. While it appears to act like a clown or jester, it is certainly not to be taken lightly. You can battle Burst in Ultra Sun. Stay tuned to find out if even more Ultra Beasts will arrive in Alola.
While there was certainly much to learn from the Nintendo Direct, there is sure to be more on the way in the near future. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will release in November but you can catch up on all the excitement now. See the videos below and visit the Pokémon website to find out more.
