Gamestop has taken a new step in its attempts to break into the downloadable games market. The game-retail giant has now bought out Flash-game portal Kongregate. What does this mean for gamers? You make the call.
The buyout will make Kongregate a subsidiary of Gamestop. The gaming giant will reportedly make use of the Flash portal as a means of hosting game content on its own website. Kongregate itself will remain under the ownership of its founders, Jim & Emily Greer.
Neither Gamestop nor Kongregate have released information on how much the company was purchased for. Regardless, the two are expected to finish inking the deal by August 1st.
