Picked up a Mace: The Dark Age arcade game recently. I saw an ad on Craigslist advertising the game for sale for $250. It said it was not working but was a prototype. It was local - about 4 miles away. I emailed the dude and said I'd take it.
When I got there, he explained that he was the game's designer. He used to work for Atari Games in Milpitas, California, but moved to Seattle to work at Snowblind Studios on a MMO. Now he was moving to Germany and didn't want to take the game with him so he was selling it, but the hard drive had crapped out (they all do in these).
I paid quickly and loaded it up. I noticed the label on the back.

When I got home, I ordered an IDE to SD card adapter for $9.99 + shipping from eBay, then picked up a 1GB SD card at Office Depot for $14.99. Then I used MAME's CHDMAN utility to write the CHD image of Mace's hard drive off the internet to the SD card via a USB card reader on a PC. Then I plugged the SD card and adapter into Mace's PCB where the hard drive cable used to go and powered up.

Woo. Perfect working prototype Mace for $275. XD
