Out of nowhere, a game called Girl Fight was announced for Xbox 360’s and PlayStation Network’s downloadable services that involves women fighting each other.
Developed by Supremacy MMA creators Kung Fu Factory with involvement from Majesco and strangely Microprose, here is the official story premise:
“Choose from an array of sexy fighters to battle their way out of THE FOUNDATION, a shadowy, scientific organization looking to weaponize the psionic fighting abilities of the cast of gorgeous, all-female fighters. With unlimited funding and no moral or ethical compass, THE FOUNDATION collects its test subjects from all around the world, often abducting and plugging women into their virtual construct known as The Mainframe. To make it back to reality, the women must utilize their fighting and psionic abilities in an all-out battle for survival.”
The game’s Facebook page also details “sports leaderboards, customization options, a deep scoring system and the best fighting on the digital platform.” For those who have been following the fighting game industry recently, another fighting game coming to digital platforms called Skullgirls is also coming soon. Girl Fight seems to be taking subtle jabs at the 2D anime-inspired fighter led by a serious player of the community despite not showing in-game screenshots or video footage as of yet. Aiming for a spring 2012 release, it’s likely that we will see more stuff about the game real soon.
