E3 2012: Aliens: Colonial Marines Updated Information

Gearbox, the company behind Borderlands, has been busy promoting the latest installment to James Cameron’s Alien franchise. It is a direct sequel to the film trilogy but in video game form — a pretty honorable feat.

Aliens: Colonial Marines tries to focus and expand on moments that were only mentioned in the films. The storyline follows Corporal Christopher Winter as a member of a search and rescue party looking for Ellen Ripley and her team.  Players gain experience by completing objectives and killing aliens so you can upgrade your weapons and abilities. All your favorite xenomorphs are back– Facehugger, Chestburster, the Queen, and even new species created by Gearbox. These aliens are tough and intelligent, swarming in packs and using the environment to their advantage by sneaking through vents. Marines have the advantage from a distance, easily picking off the aliens from safety. Some weapons, however, have no affect on certain enemies.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will be available for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in February 2013.
