While the sequel has already been announced for Japan, the first Tales of Xillia is finally coming stateside in 2013.
Carlson Choi, Namco’s Marketing VP, stated:
The recent success for this year’s releases of Tales of the Abyss® and Tales of Graces™ f has helped make localizing Tales of Xillia for North America one of the easiest decisions we have ever made. The latest game in this prolific series gives gamers a brand new world and cast of characters to get lost in along with its celebrated battle system that has yet to be rivaled by other Japanese RPGs.”
Tales of Xillia will be a direct port of the Japanese version, with players taking on the role of
Judge Jude Mathis, a medical student who in typical medical student fashion, sets off on an adventure to destroy a powerful device and restore mana to the world. The Linear Motion Battle system makes its return, allowing for real-time movement and attacks, in addition to letting characters combine their attacks — a first for the series.
No exact release date has been announced for the PS3 game, but its 2013 release ensures that we’ll receive it long after Tales of Xillia 2 is released in Japan.
