Rocksteady to Develop a Silver Age Batman Game?

Developers of the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham video games are apparently hard at work developing another iteration into the masked superhero’s saga. According to Variety, Rocksteady Studios is developing a “highly stylized” prequel that tells the story of Batman and The Joker’s first encounter. The game is to be set in the Silver Age of DC’s work, around the time the Justice League of America was formed. So for all we know, we may see cameo appearances from Superman or Wonderwoman, similar to what we saw in recently released Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.

Unfortunately, Mark Hamill, voice of The Joker in the animated TV series and recent video games, has stated he won’t be reprising his role as the Joker. An unfortunate sign considering Hamill’s voice has become iconic and synonymous with the series, so hopefully his successor (or predecessor) can do the character justice. Whether or not we will see a 50s Batman is entirely dependent on Rocksteady’s creative abilities, but they’ve proven more than capable of creating an immersive Batman experience.
