Activision has confirmed today that the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater downloadable remake will not strictly be released for consoles and is headed for PC sometime in the near future. Unfortunately, an exact release date hasn’t been announced, nor are there any detailing of version-specific content. Being that Activision has warmed up to Steam, it wouldn’t be out of the question to expect the game to use Steamworks, but nothing has been announced as of late.
It has been over six years since we’ve seen a Tony Hawk game grace the PC platform, close to the time when the series went from annual to biennial in its release schedule. Being that this is more of a throwback to the good ol’ days when Tony Hawk games actually dominated the marketplace with memorable soundtracks and arcade-style gameplay, having a PC release definitely won’t hurt the brand. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is scheduled for release next week (July 18th) through XBLA’s Summer of Arcade promotion and will eventually be released on the Playstation 3 and now PC.
