Sony announced today that compilations for the God of War, Infamous, and Ratchet and Clank series will be released on August 28th. The first two will retail for $40, with the Ratchet and Clank set going for $30. The God of War Collection includes a month of PS+ and all five entries in the series released to date, making it one of the better values in gaming right now. The Infamous Collection brings its two physical games and the PSN Festival of Blood along with some vaguely-described extra content, while the Ratchet and Clank one gives you the first three of its PS2 entries remastered, along with a demo for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and a 10th anniversary avatar.
The gold-lined covers look much classier than the slightly-gaudy red cases and borders they’ve used before, and they reworked the cover art to have the gold work with every cover. There’s no word yet on if these covers will just be slipcases over separate PS3 cases, or just all three game discs and manuals crammed together with a PSN voucher for things like Festival of Blood.
The collections will also be released on PSN itself, enabling folks with massive hard drive to save money and some physical space if they so desire. More PlayStation Collections are expected to be announced shortly, and I’d guess that a Motorstorm Collection is a fairly safe bet there, along with a LittleBigPlanet/ModNation Racers one, and perhaps an Uncharted one as well.
