Atari 2600 owners holding out for Super Mario Bros to be ported soon may be in luck. A member named “Sprybrug” over at the AtariAge forums has been working on adapting the game to the 35 year console. A demo for world 1-1 has been released and subsequently filmed for YouTube.
It’s pretty novel seeing a technologically-outdated game playing on an even more outdated console. Hearing the famous mario tune with Atari soundchips is worth the endeavor alone. Those into emulation can try the game themselves via download links (also) at AtariAge. While only one world may be playable, Sprybrug is working on getting all 16 levels adapted.
Somebody needs to start a Kickstarter to get actual carts pressed.
