While gamers know Unreal Engine and CryEngine, they may be unfamiliar with Unity. This may be due to the fact that most games developed under Unity have been mobile games. As the engine is simpler to develop for and costs less to license, it remains a relevant development tool. Even now, InXile Entertainment’s upcoming Wasteland sequel, and the Arabic developed Unearthed: Trial of Ibn Battuta, will both be using Unity as their prime game engine.
The company, in collaboration with Passion Pictures, has shown off a tech demo for their upcoming Unity 4 engine, displaying a man in his underpants who is taken on the ride of his life. It’s no Unreal Engine 4, but it’s definitely a step up from what we’ve come to expect from these tools.
