Best known for his work on ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, Kenji Kaido announced today through Twitter that he will be leaving his position at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan next month. Prior to his work with Team ICO, Kaido also worked on such hits as Tomba! and Ape Escape for Sony. His future plans are still undetermined, but he says that he will enjoy his summer break before he worries about it.
While he may not be apart of Team ICO, his past history with the company does set off alarms on the ongoing concern over The Last Guardian. Whether he was producing that as well is still unknown, but seeing as the last game he worked on was Shadow of the Colossus, there was a good chance he was part of the development. Who knows what is going on over there and when the overly ambitious title will come out. Regardless, we hope to see Kaido back in action soon.
