Skullgirls was probably one of the most overlooked games this year, featuring a charismatic cast of characters and an incredibly addictive combat system. It was priced at a measly fifteen dollars, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough to keep Reverge Labs afloat as it was mentioned today that the entire team was quietly laid off back in June, a mere two months after Skullgirls was released.
Don’t worry though; former employees at Reverge Labs have opened up a brand new studio under the name ‘Lab Zero Games’ and hopes to get back to work soon. For those who worry about the future of the Skullgirls franchise, don’t be, as publisher Autumn Games owns the rights behind the IP and are excited about the new venture.
“Autumn Games, the publisher and owner of the Skullgirls property, is fully behind the new studio and will continue to work with us in the future on all Skullgirls-related endeavors, such as the just-released patch, more merchandise and a few other things we can’t quite announce yet.”
