Hotline Miami creator Jonatan Söderström has inadvertly revealed that a sequel to Hotline Miami is in development. The outspoken developer tweeted that he was “Working while listening to the sweet tunes of a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack that we’ve put together during the weekend.” as seen below.
With a soundtrack as notable as the one heard in the first game, it only makes sense that it’s one of the first features that the developer works on. Previously, Söderström had said that the DLC was nearly as long as the game itself. Apparently, though, it’s this DLC that’s being turned into a sequel, with Söderström stating “Yeah, it seems like it will end up bigger (in terms of the number of levels we’ve got planned) than the first, so it feels reasonable to release it as a full game rather than a DLC.”
Before you get your pig masks on and weapons ready for the slaughter, however, the game will certainly not be a quicky sequel to cash-in on the current popularity: ” “We’ve barely begun working on it though, still got things we need to patch with the first game, so that’s the main priority right now.”
