Black Friday is one of The United States’ biggest shopping events and there were a number of deals regarding games and game consoles this year. Microsoft and Nintendo both posted their impressive figures and now Sony has done the same. SCEA has announced they sold over 525,000 Playstation 3s between November 18th and the 24th, along with 160,000 Playstation Vitas.
“We’re very pleased with the Black Friday sales results, especially the incredible reception for the PS3 and PS Vita bundles. The demand was very strong which quickly depleted our inventory across retailers nationwide,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. “The PlayStation brand generated significant revenue and year-over-year growth at retail because of our focus on what gamers love most in combining amazing hardware with great games and digital entertainment.”
The Playstation 3 saw a 15% rise in sales while games and accessories received a bump of 9%. Despite still being over 200k behind the Xbox 360, this is a strong push for the Playstation brand.
