|In another year filled with sequels, Sleeping Dogs was one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Its fate was uncertain when Activision cancelled it, but Square-Enix was gracious enough to revive it and allow us to play the finest sandbox game of the year. Its compelling story of betrayal and corruption involves more than a few characters you’ll grow attached to. Its gameplay brings with it all the things you’ve come to expect from a sandbox game plus more. Gunplay is handled better than most in the genre, its fluid free-running elements are excellent, and everything has a high level of refinement that is rare for action adventure games.
