It’s rare that a sequel outshines its predecessor so completely, especially a game as solid as Far Cry 2, but Far Cry 3 expanded on the basics of the series so thoroughly that there’s no going back now. Trading in the bland environments of the African savannah for the lush tropical jungle of Rook Island went a long way towards making the world more inviting to explore. It also added a more welcome focus on stealth as you sneak through the trees and underbrush, carefully scoping out an area to plan a methodical attack. Or set a brush fire to panic your targets, then booby trap their walking routes with C-4. Whatever works, really.
