SSX was due for a revival, and this was exactly the game the series needed. Dozens of mountains with endless events scattered all over the world made for an amazing planet-wide journey. The trick system was easy to come to grips with while still offering plenty of room for improvisation, shooting scores through the roof once you’d learned the ins and outs of the course. SSX was one of the defining series from the PS2’s early days, and seeing it given the update it deserved felt great. Nostalgia is all very well and good, but this is the game that lived up to those fond memories.
