The studio behind one the best RPG franchises to be released this generation (The Witcher) has a new video game for their fans: Cyberpunk 2077. While we’ve known of the game for quite some time, it’s only now that we’ve received both a trailer and story related details regarding CD Projekt Red’s second major series.
Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in… well 2077, where you are plunked in the middle of Night City, a beautifully structured open world metropolis that has yet to rid itself of drugs, violence and poverty (so basically a more futuristic version of the world today). While that sounds quite depressing, the city itself is inhabited with curious individuals who seem to have a desire to mechanically modify themselves. As shown in the trailer, psychos are still a concern all around the globe, but this time they’re rampaging cyborgs who go on killing sprees.
Another large part of the story is a new form of entertainment called braindance. While we all love our video games and movies, braindance is essentially a drug that allows others to stream digital memory recordings into their neural system via augmentations, ultimately simulating different emotions that were felt by others once upon a time. It’s definitely an interesting concept and will be implemented heavily into the plot of the upcoming futuristic RPG.
