After almost 18 months of mum being the word, Square Enix is finally ready to start talking about the HD version of Final Fantasy X. Initially unveiled at Tokyo Game Show 2011, this forthcoming enhancement of the PlayStation 2 classic is heading to both Vita and PS3, and has apparently taken longer than expected, at least that’s what was indicated by Motomu Toriyama last summer when he said, “Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more.” Fortunately that wait seems to be over.
Producer Shinju Hashimoto went on record today and apologized for the lengthy wait, stating that the development team was focusing their efforts on making the best possible HD version they could. They revealed some footage of how the game is coming along, which can be checked out below. As for a release date, well, we’ve still got some time to kill before we get something solid, however Hashimoto did say that a release announcement would be coming shortly. Fanboys can start speculating in 3, 2, 1.
