GungHo Bringing Six PS1 Imports to PSN Today

GungHo has carved a niche out for itself as the leading company showing support for Japanese PS1 classics on the PS Store. The PS blog has announced that six text-heavy games will be released later today. Sentimental Graffiti is a dating sim that spawned sequels, an anime series, and even a radio drama, while First Queen IV is an RTS/RPG hybrid where you control a ton of units at once. This game is heralded as being text-heavy, but the battle system is fairly straightforward. Trump Shiyouyo! Fukkoku-ban is a card game that would appear to be the least text-heavy of the bunch, with the text largely being limited to explaining the rules of each game – so it appears a combination of a search engine or GameFAQs may be all that are needed to get the most out of this game.

Oz no Mahoutsukai – Another World – RungRung is a text-heavy take on the Wizard of Oz with an incredible art style and environments that look quite gorgeous despite time it being created for now-ancient hardware. Mahjong Uranai Fortuna – Tsuki no Megami Techi mixes mahjong with fortune-telling and while the fortune telling portion is text-heavy, the game of mahjong is easy to pick up and play in gaming form, and there’s also a text-free image gallery to view. The final game being made available today is Favorite Dear – Enkan no Monogatari is a JRPG with a dating sim and based on the blog, appears to be the most text-heavy game of the bunch, so it might be a bit too taxing if you don’t have a working knowledge of Japanese. All of these games are only $6 – a far cry from the heyday of buying PS1 imports from magazines or if you were lucky, a local store, for around $100.
