In one of the most pleasantly surprising bits of gaming news in a while, Capcom announced today at PAX East that DuckTales Remastered is coming out. This revamped version of the slightly Mega Man-esque platformer for the NES has completely redone graphics that look incredibly sharp and match the look of the show perfectly. From the sounds of the karaoke version of the theme, it sounds like it’s been remastered as it’s never sounded better. WayForward is developing it, and they’ve done a marvelous job with platformers in recent years.
The surviving voice talent from the original show has been brought back to do VO work for the game, and the game has been completely reanimated to be both true to the show, but the original game. It’s set for release in the summer for XBLA, PSN, and the Wii U’s eShop, and its cover art is pretty much exactly what the original NES version’s was. This was clearly a labor of love for the folks at both Capcom and WayForward, and it’s safe to say that this will be one of the most anticipated games over the summer for the 25+ gaming crowd.
