Twitch App Released For Xbox 360

There’s already a Twitch app on the sorta released OUYA console, but this is the first time one has been launched for a mainstream console you can actually buy in a store right now. The 360 app works far better than the OUYA one, is organized fairly well into top channels, top games, and featured games. You’re unable to view every channel on Twitch, like our own, nor can you search for a specific channel. There’s definitely room for improvement here, but for day one, the app feels fairly complete. The app is a great way to see things on a 360 that you otherwise wouldn’t, like Runescape or in a surreal bit, the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, complete with that full name and cover art.

As with anything on Twitch, video quality is a bit of an issue. Those used to perfect direct feed videos will be in for a bit of a surprise. Heck, even those used to downgraded video quality on Youtube will be surprised at just how funky the video can look at times. It still looks watchable though. As you can see in this screen of Twilight Princess, there’s a lot of pixellation, but you’re still able to make out important details like the button layout and hearts. Commentary comes through nice and clear too, and the surrounding graphics look very sharp.
